Privacy Policy

1. Introduction / scope

This Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is collected, processed, stored, and protected in connection with the Closee mobile app and the services offered via closee.com.tr. Closee is a dating app built with Flutter and powered by Supabase infrastructure.

By downloading the app, creating an account, or using our services, you are deemed to accept the practices described in this policy. Closee is not yet operated by a company; it is operated by a natural person (an individual developer).

2. Data controller

For your personal data, the data controller is the natural person who operates Closee:

Email is the primary contact channel. For KVKK requests, please put “KVKK Başvurusu” (KVKK Request) in the subject line.

3. Data we collect

Depending on the nature of the service, we may collect or process data in the following categories:

  • Account data: email address, phone number, and authentication (auth) information; if you sign in with Apple / Google, basic account identifiers received from the relevant provider.
  • Profile data: name or display name, age / year of birth, biography (bio), profile photos, interests, and matching preferences (e.g. distance, age range).
  • Location / distance: approximate location or distance information for matching with nearby users (subject to your device permissions). Precise location is not continuously tracked; the purpose is to calculate matching distance.
  • Swipe / match interactions: likes, passes, match records, and related timestamps.
  • Messaging content: text and media messages you share with users you have matched with.
  • Device / technical logs: device type, operating system version, app version, IP address, crash / error logs, and technical records needed for security.
  • Notification tokens: if push notifications are enabled, a device notification token (via Apple / Google or the relevant push infrastructure).

4. Processing purposes

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Account creation, authentication, and session management
  • Providing profile creation and matching / discovery features
  • Distance-based matching and in-app messaging
  • Security and prevention of fraud and abuse
  • Responding to support requests
  • Complying with legal obligations
  • Improving the service (including anonymized or aggregated statistics, where practicable)

5. Legal bases

Under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK), our processing activities may primarily rely on the following legal bases:

  • Formation or performance of a contract: managing your account and providing core services such as matching and messaging
  • Legitimate interest: security, prevention of abuse, and service continuity (provided this does not harm your fundamental rights and freedoms)
  • Explicit consent: processing that requires consent, such as location features or marketing notifications (where given; may be withdrawn)
  • Legal obligation: requests from competent authorities or mandatory retention duties

6. Third parties

To provide the service, we work with the following types of service providers. They process data only to the extent required for the service:

  • Supabase: authentication, database, storage, and related backend infrastructure
  • Apple / Google: app store distribution, sign-in (Sign in with Apple / Google), and device notification infrastructure
  • Push notification providers: for delivering notifications (to the extent we use them)

Third parties may also have their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data.

7. Retention periods

We retain data for as long as required by the processing purpose and within the framework of legal obligations. When the purpose ends or the account is deleted, data is deleted or anonymized, subject to mandatory legal retention.

  • Account and profile: while the account is active; after a deletion request, within a reasonable time (e.g. targeted for completion within 30 days)
  • Messages and matches: until the account or the relevant content is deleted; short-term backups may exist for security reviews
  • Technical logs: generally 6–12 months (security and debugging)
  • Legal obligations: periods required by applicable law

The periods above are draft / target periods; final policies will be clarified through operational processes.

8. International transfers

Closee uses Supabase and similar cloud infrastructure. These providers’ servers may be located outside Türkiye (e.g. the European Union or other regions). In that case, your personal data may be transferred abroad. Transfers are carried out within the safeguards provided under KVKK, contractual commitments, and mechanisms that afford adequate protection where available.

9. User rights and how to apply

Under Article 11 of KVKK, you have the right to learn whether your data is processed; to request information if it is; to learn whether it is used for its purpose; to know the third parties to whom it is transferred in Türkiye or abroad; to request correction or deletion / destruction; to object to analysis via automated systems; and to seek compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing.

10. 18+ / children

Closee is intended only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account. Accounts that misrepresent age or appear to belong to children may be closed, and the related data deleted.

11. Policy changes

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes, we aim to inform you via in-app notice, email, or by updating the “Last updated” date on this site. The current text is always published on this page.
